A Day in the Life

Just so people don’t get disillusioned and think that we have this amazing Instagram worthy life 24/7. Here is a little bit of an insight into a normal or not so fun day. I got up at 7 to go to the dentist with my dad. We had to wait for almost three hours, yes, three hours, before my dad’s root canal and to see if I need my wisdom teeth taken out.

After that as we were both tired and hungry. We had to go to the mokolet (מכולת) or grocery store to get food for a group that was coming for dinner later that day. Grocery shopping in Israel is not like it is America. There are no Walmart’s or Costco’s. You have to go to several stores to find what you need—and we did. We started with the produce store to gather the fruit and vegetables, after that we went to the small grocery store next door. But they only had one thing on the list so we went to the next town to the big mocolet and picked up pasta and other things that were missing from the kitchen.
By time we got home we had about an hour to recover before prepping the food. We made chicken ala esh (עלהאש) or on the grill. We also did veggie skewers and pasta with watermelon for dessert.

When the group showed up we found out we knew some of them. Atalya’s best friend since she was 3 was with the group and so was my college roommate’s little sister!
