Well it’s always an adventure… in true Sigler fashion we are spending a spontaneous 24 hours in New York. Or in other words our flight was extremely delayed and the airline had to pay for our hotel in New York when we missed our connection and we have 24 hours to kill in the city.

I have flown in and out of New York more times than I can count and I’ve driven straight through before, but I’ve never been “in” New York. So our unexpected adventure turned out to be a fun opportunity.

We spent the night in a hotel by the airport and went to meet up with our friends the Olsons in the morning, who live in New York and used to attend our congregation in Chicago, we met them at Katz’s Deli and had amazing famous pastrami sandwiches. But as we were about to leave we ran into another one of our friends the Hammonds!

They also attended the same congregation in Chicago and now live in Florida. So as you can imagine we were shocked to see them! But Lisa was in New York visiting relatives and dropping off their oldest daughter for a trip to Israel. This is probably a good example of life as a “Sigler.” We run into people everywhere!

And we weren’t even planning on being in New York, we didn’t know that our friends were in New York, and we ran into them at the deli; granted it is a famous Jewish deli you may even recognize it. It’s Katz’s Delicatessen from “When Harry met Sally”. But in true Sigler fashion if it’s possible, it’ll happen!
