My family has been to Israel many times after we lived there for a year when I was 12, but we haven’t been back in 3 years due to Covid. Now we are back and will be enjoying all of our favorite places and friends.

After a little bit of recovery time from the flight, we went into Jerusalem. We drove to the שוק (shuk) and went to dinner at a local restaurant אישטבח (ishtabach). https://www.tabitorder.com/?siteName=ishtabach#/start

This is a well known restaurant with unique food and a close-up view of the food they are making. They have all of the ingredients laid out and take a piece of dough and fill it with everything you pick. It is then slid into the pizza oven. When it comes out they serve it to you with a bunch of Mediterranean dips and salads.

After our amazing dinner we went further into the שוק (shuk) to explore what was still open after Covid and pick up some snacks.

The shuk is a big local market, maybe what you would think of as a bizarre, but the closest thing we have to it in America is a farmer’s market.
